Tomás Saraceno: Cloud City
Argentine artist Tomás Saraceno’s magnificent modular structures are currently taking over the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City until November 4th, 2012. Saraceno’s complex architectural works are inspired by structures found in nature. Based on geometric modules and constructed with the use of reflective material, these bubble-like habitable bio-domes can be admired from the ground or experienced by the viewer from the inside. Saraceno’s work ultimately extends architecture and art installation into the realm of science, allowing the viewer to experience alternate ways of living and interacting with the environment.
